1448424 2018-04-13 05:41:00 If one isn't overclocking, are the fans that attach to the computer case needed? Do big brand computers have these fans as well?

We see self assembled computer cases with all these fans - front and back and top . I don't look at big brand computers often but they don't seem to have this many fans .

Thanks .

Name brand computers work on the "good enough" design principle and also can design for specific hardware configurations.

Other than that it's all down to personal preference and requirements. I have two front intake fans sucking air in through a filter, they don't actually help my cooling all that much but what they do is give me some positive pressure which helps keep everything clean by controlling where the air (and therefore dust) goes into the case.
Then I have a single rear extractor fan which takes the heat out and is more effective at cooling. Necessary? no, useful? yes.

Millions of PC's have no case fans, millions do. :)

Doesnt hurt to connect one up , better a warm system than a hot system .
