Its slow, a pain to navigate and too flashy, and did I mention slow. How you lot with dial-up can use it is beyond me.

Twice now I've gone to Hornby, Christchurch to see a movie instead of Hoyts because we didn't want to wait for the B/S flash thing to load and navigate.

I sent them a complaint using the link on their website and got back a reply from a person that no longer works on their website.

Oh and that fee to buy on line....WTfudge?

772415 2009-05-09 08:18:00 Much slower than most sites on my connection, maybe cause it's hosted in Australia? simro (13177)
772416 2009-05-09 08:31:00 Just tried the NZ Hoyts ??? loaded fast for me - I'm on Telstra Cable, tried with IE, on both W7 ( IE8) and XP (IE7) - Main page loaded in about 10 seconds in both cases - other links in their site loaded about the same ( actually quicker - apart from the secure areas - ordering tickets).

What browser are you using ?? Some sites suck in Firefox these days - but work fine in IE.

In fact if you look at the FAQ:
Why does the Hoyts site not work properly on my system?

The Hoyts web site has been designed and built for Internet Explorer (version 4.0 and above) and Netscape Navigator (version 6 and above) with a minimum screen resolution of 800x600 pixels.

772417 2009-05-09 12:53:00 It's not slow in terms of how long it takes to download - but rather in how it reacts. When you mouse over something it takes a while for the page to do anything. I'd prefer a simple page that's crisp and intuitive over the current page. There's probably nothing technically wrong with the site but it just doesn't feel right. joshjnz (7844)
772418 2009-05-09 21:46:00 Try the sky city cinema one. That thing is the biggest dog. pine-o-cleen (2955)

Yea Gods, Sky City web site is pretty ugly, mostly ads where you have to hunt for the stuff you want, but it loads reasonably quickly compare to Hoyts .

Haven't these web designers heard of the web design philosophy of "Trains, tickets, and toilets"?

Mind you, I been doing research on fast food outlets in the USofA, those designers seem to think that slow flash based websites where the important information like menus are hidden, are what customers want .

It still seems slow to me most of the time . I've waited over two minutes for it to load at busy times .

I too like that quick crisp and intuitive page, something that they seriously lack .
