864809 2010-03-08 00:15:00 I recently read about a free downloan to open Docx files in XP. I thought it was in PC World, but cannot now find it.
Can anyone help.
Thank you.

You'll probably either be thinking of the word viewer (www.microsoft.com), or Open Office (download.openoffice.org).

Nothing to do with XP, Its so you can open them in older versions of Office, rather than the latest one which uses the x format.

I've downloaded this and can now open them just fine with my old Office.I didn't update Office first either.....

Yes, this is the one you want. It does the new word and Excel formats.

Called FileFormatConverters.exe
