864098 2010-03-04 12:39:00 Hi all

Through a friend who works for HP, I've got an opportunity to get one of these for just over AUD $400. Normal retail is AUD $599 or NZD $600-$700

I know HP isn't the best brand out there, and I probably would have got the Asus EEE as my first choice it I was paying normal retail price.

But at such a good price I'm really tempted, does anyone else have one or used one, if so what are your thoughts???

Or even if you haven't used one, I'm still interested in your opinions!

Thanks!

864100 2010-03-04 23:23:00 Are they *that* bad??? Why is that?

Even with such a good price, still not worth it??

864101 2010-03-05 02:31:00 Because. Tell me what motherboard it has in it, what Graphics, what DVD, what screen. Random, thats why. Could be good, could be bad, most likely bad.
At least with ASUS its mostly got ASUS bits in it and if there is a problem you don't have to ring an Indian urchin for unhelp.

864102 2010-03-05 07:53:00 Can't speak for the 210 but I have a 110 and would absolutely recommend it. Not sure what PCtech is on about with "random mobos" - we're talking about a netbook; it has a custom mobo. Even HP desktops (of which I have some experience in a corporate environment), have consistent manufacture with HP mobos. Perhaps he is referring to the consumer line of desktops - may be a different story. wuppo (41)

864104 2010-03-05 13:25:00 Asus or Toshiba would have normally been my choices. Note I don't need anything fully featured, my main PC is my desktop for that. This is just for basic browsing and email, chatting and maybe Skype while I'm away from home on my work trips. I won;t be doing anything more taxing than that.
PCTek, I know what you're saying, and if I was paying retail I would agree.
But my logic is, for such a good price, and the warranty, it's worth the gamble isn't it?

Bit like preferring to buy a new BMW, but then getting offered a new Mitsubishi at a real low price...

Or you think my logic is flawed?
