864635 2010-03-07 04:33:00 Is it possible to connect my PC to our LCD TV in the lounge and play family and music videos?
If so, what do I need to do it and which connections do I use?

Also, if it's possible to do, does the TV use the PC's graphics card or bypass it?

I have an older PC that I can use for this and leave connected to the TV.

Thanks

864636 2010-03-07 04:38:00 What connections are on the PC and TV?? If both have HDMI get an HDMI cable. If the TV is connected to the PC's video card, then it'll be using it. And you'll have to leave the PC on to watch whatever (on the TV) Speedy Gonzales (78)
864637 2010-03-07 04:40:00 It is probably cheaper, and certainly better, to get a new DVD player [under $50] than to do what you are contemplating. PENTIUM (426)

High Definition ....(I'm guessing)?

I'll have a look and see.

864640 2010-03-07 05:08:00 You sure can.

My own media center, thats overdue for an upgrade only uses a D-Sub connection from the Video card to the TV Types of connections (ixbtlabs.com) - The LCD TV also has a D-Sub, and all you do it turn on the PC, flick on the remote the PC option and away you go - Large Screen PC.

The newer HDMI Will of course give a better picture, BUT it depends on what the TV connections have and what the PC has that will marry up.
