My 3.5 year old PC specs are: CPU: Intel Pentium D945 3.4 ghz 2x2mb cache 800 mhz fsb lga775 Motherboard: Intel LGA775 DDR400/333 RAM: 2gb Windows: XP PSU: 520w GPU: nvidia GeForce 7600GT 256 SSR3 I am normally a few years behind playing new release games, and I am starting to play games now that my PC cannot handle on high settings (ones released in 2007/08). I currently have a 19 inch LCD, but plan to upgrade this to 22-24 inch full hd widescreen (at some stage). I am thinking about purchasing one of these: Sapphire HD5750 1G DD5 PCI-E Video card , DUAL DVI-I / HDMI www.extremepc.co.nz OR XFX Radeon™ HD 5770 1024 MB DDR5 DisplayPort (HD-577A-ZNFC) www.extremepc.co.nz I can get the 5750 for $200 and the 5770 for $250. What I'd like to know: 1) What do you think of these 2 cards? 2) Is it worth paying an extra $50 for the 5770? 3) Any other card you might recommend? 4) Anything else I should be thinking about? 5) Any recommendations on a good 22-24 inch full HD widescreen monitor? | 864327 | 2010-03-06 00:10:00 | I wouldn't buy a 57xx anything, nor a 47xx anything. 5850, 4850. ASUS or Gigabyte. You might need to change the PSU too, what brand is it? |

XFX and EVGA are considered higher brands amongst enthusiast over Gigabyte and Asus, unless you look in this NZ forum lol. Yes the 5770 is well worth the extra $50 and the better buy, but check the warranty hsvman12, you really want 2 years+ |

| 864329 | 2010-03-06 04:16:00 | I'm using 5770 and loving it, but I put a 4870 in my sons machine 'cas it was cheaper and he is playing Dragon Age Origins smoother than me. The only difference is the rest of his system....AMD Athlon2 Dual Core AM3 - 45nm Regor 3Ghz, 750GB HDD, 4GB DDR2. Me...Athlon64 X2 Dual Core 4400+ 2.3Ghz, no idea what my HDD is, 4GB DDR2 of which I can only use 3. |

According to the manual, the mother board has: Two PCI Conventional* bus connectors One PCI Express* x1 bus add-in card connector One PCI Express x16 bus add-in card connector Any advice on a 22-24 inch monitor - I don't want to pay the earth, but do want a good one. EVGA and XFX are extremely reliable just because you have never sold them doesn't make them less reliable, just means you know nothing about them lol I agree with warranty hence the advice. |
