I cant get my cable modem to run through my ethernet. When I plug it in nothing happens. Works fine through the usb but I hear that ethernet is faster so I thought Id try it.... any words of advice???? |

You'll have to manually set up your IP settings for the ethernet connection to those being used by the USB when it's plugged in - it should be available under your Network Connections (or Network & Sharing Center under Vista).
Although I doubt you'll notice any difference - I'd expect either the USB or the ethernet connection will easily saturate the cable bandwidth. A useful exercise if you ever buy a router to share your cable connection with another PC, though. |

I dont think you use ethernet with cable do you?If your cable modem supports it, yes (and I have never seen a cable modem that didn't). |
