Its quite heartening to know that terrorists can be defeated if the country puts their mind to it. I have been closely following this war for over 15 years and at one stage the government was losing quite badly. The war was turned around by the leadership of one man General Fonseka who the LTTE terrorists gravely injured with a suicide bomb.(The LTTE invented the suicide bomber). When he came back from hospital in Singapore he decided to beat the terrorists once and for all. There will need to be a bit of bush justice on the terrorist survivors to make sure they dont start up again. Today will get a nice big bottle of rum at the liquor store ready for victory celebrations. |

These are VERY hard if not impossible to stop in today's modern world. Whilst I am against violence of all sorts, there must be two sides to every story and I have read that it was the Sri Lankan governments treatment and lack of recognition for Tamils that started the whole thing. Tamils have lived in Ceylon for centuries. |

Social club is going to be wrapped with my free keg (still tax deductible!) although some people at work still whinge they have to pay for wine and soft drink while the beers drinkers throw free piss down their necks. Actually the tamils run Ceylon, in earlier times they were in big. It was a common Dutch/Portugese/British trick to divide and rule a colony but the tamils got the arse when the poms left. Sends a message out to separatist terrorists they can lose a war, the precedent has been set. Imagine how different the USA might have been if the Confederates won the American Civil war. |
