773754 2009-05-14 06:04:00 I'm sure I'm not the only one to have noticed, but I've not seen it reported...

The calculator has had a major revamp.

It now has 4 modes: standard, scientific, programmer and statistics.
In addition, there are flyouts for date calculation and units conversion, and worksheets for mortgage calculation, date calculation and mileage (mpg and l/100km).
There is also a history capability (like a till slip/calculator roll) that you can manipulate to redo calculations, and you can also copy the history and paste it into Word (say) or Excel. It doesn't paste into Excel as formulas, just the text of the calculations - which is a pity.

It looks really useful.

773755 2009-05-14 06:24:00 about time they did something with the calculator (not that you can do a huge amount to a calculator) i think the new features are really cool
i also noticed with wordpad they have the ribbon interface like office 2k7
Overall i think they have done a great job at saving face on this OS after the disaster with vista
To be quite honest i didnt mind vista too much but after playing with win 7 it just cant compete as everyone online is saying its what vista should off been

773757 2009-05-14 10:29:00 For those people (including invisible ones) that would like a free calculator that has the history feature, google moffsoft - that's if you don't have/want Windows 7 Ofthesea (14129)
773758 2009-05-14 10:38:00 If you have vista you can get the W7 calc

www.box.net

Download and replace file in System32 or just run as standalone app

773759 2009-05-15 05:31:00 as everyone online is saying its what vista should off been

Throw in WinFS and then it'll be what vista should've been.

But I agree, it is alot better. MS really is stepping up their game after the abortion that is vista. It would be nice if they introduced a legacy-more driver system, supporting both the WDM and old INF systems.
