I've noticed that the FTA with China seems to have increased the likelihood that your food will come from there - I've even seen the "no-brand" frozen veg at the supermarket coming from China recently. Even if the Chinese producers do get some oversight from NZ retailers, China needs to get its reputation into a much better place before I'll choose China over NZ for something like that at any price - witness the Fonterra/SanLu debacle. | MushHead (10626) | ||

I could not understand the Minister for Agriculture sating he will wait 6 months fro a report ! (This all comes back to competing with low cost overseas imports - or is it just greedy farmers ?) Wasn't Mike King NZ Porks ambassador for a while? |

Once they are banned I will know by buying NZ pork its ok then wont I? I dont need to buy eggs in fact I give them away during the summer. Stop being an apologist for cruel farmers. Farmers who do battery hens and pig crate farming are scum and need putting in jail for animal cruelty. My Dad his dad and so on going back to England as far back as the 1400s were farmers. If my Dad did **** like that I would disown him. I should have qualified my earlier comment with this - I don't agree with the inhumane treatment of animals, and I definitely don't endorse animal cruelty. What I am saying though, is that having the govt ban everything simply won't solve the problem. |
