774524 2009-05-17 10:25:00 wrote them to a DVD.
Put it in the player, but it wouldn't read it, just kept looking.
Had this problem and so have several of my customers who used DVD+R. If they used DVD-R they worked fine.

I was hopng to get all 5 movies on one disc.
Normally you can - Once you have added the movies, check in project Settings - that its set to DVD 4.3GB

774525 2009-05-17 11:02:00 Found a tray release under the DVD player, so got that sorted.

Was using DVD-R.

Were is this "project settings" option?

774528 2009-05-19 08:03:00 Here's another twist to this tale.
Gave up on the DVD thing.
Used Handbrake to convert one of these AVI files to MP4.
Sucessful conversion & I was able to open it in MP Classic.
Copied it to a PSP but it wouldn't open it. Claimed it was unsuported data.
The same folder I copied it to had another MP4 movie that played fine.
Checked the properties of both files & except for the name & size they are identical

774529 2009-05-19 13:42:00 Try this, get XMedia Recode ver 2.1.2.9 from here, there is an English version because I have it:

www.xmedia-recode.de

you can change the language once you have installed it.

774530 2009-06-21 06:27:00 An update to this project.
Decided to get some cables & connect the PC to the Telly.
First problem, it needs to be at least 12M.
So have to move both audio & video.
Can't seem to find one that will do the job without adaptors & converters.
They seem to be readily available in the US. (S-Video Male + 3.5mm Audio to 3 RCA Composite Cable)
Anyone know where I might find one in NZ?
Or is there an easier way?

774531 2009-06-21 07:44:00 What ports does the tele have?

You can try a VGA to S-Video adapter.

Or, something like this:
www.trademe.co.nz

You'll also need a cheap RCA to 3.5mm adapter for audio.

774532 2009-06-21 09:31:00 Well the tele has S-Video & RCA but it is set up in a home theatre type situation with a DVD, VCR & Freeview decoder. To get all three hooked up I had to get a splitter box & there is still one free RCA channel on that. If I can get the above mentioned cable it will plug in there. If I was real clever like you I would paste a link to a picture of the cable. If you google "Pro S-Video To 3 RCA" it takes you to it.
It looks like the longest they come is 10M anyway so I would have to have an extension. I suppose another way would be to buy sufficient cable & solder the appropriate fittings onto it.

774533 2009-09-06 13:50:00 In answer to your Q there is one way with out all the hassel
all modern DVD recorders will play AVI,DIVX,VCD and so on
and they dont have to be the expencive ones
if you were to go shopping for one, take a DVD along with the AVI's
on it and ask to play it on one of the display models on the shelves
to make sure before purchase (I have almost no DVD movies only AVI's)
at an average of 5 - 6 movies on a DVD I have over 600 of them.
