| 865627 | 2010-03-10 19:13:00 | I think that infecting the pc on purpose is an interesting one, and something that security professionals do to analyse changes. However I would tend to use a virtual machine for that since ghosting a machine takes a good few minutes. Slightly faulty ram is a good one. Breaking the MBR is good too, or making windows unbootable- using xp repair etc. There are repositories of viruses etc. |

| 865628 | 2010-03-10 19:37:00 | I don't see many infected machines coming through work. Most of our work is corporate gear . That means nothing, I've seen ;loads of infected business machines. It's often worse because the IT person thinks the Client/server Nortons they have on them takes care of everything. Forget infecting PCs, that's not a good test anyway, do what some of the others have suggested with hardware problems etc. |
