i am currently running Windows 7 & few days back Microsoft security essentials asked me to update, while the update was getting installed i received some error. so i uninstalled it and tried to download a fresh setup but since then it wont install. during the setup process it stops and says

Can't complete the Microsoft Security Essentials Installation Wizard - Error Code: 0x80070643

i have followed all instructions on
social.answers.microsoft.com

No Luck yet.

Did someone delete this folder? All Users\Desktop ?? According to one of the posts above, it was fixed when the guy recreated this folder

i do have the desktop shortcut in all users/desktop. also tried that link but still the same

866887 2010-03-13 12:08:00 Check task manager, see if any instances of msiexec.exe are running before you install it again. If there is, kill them first. Then see what happens. It looks like its a windows installer prob. But you cant reinstall it by the looks of it.

Since its a later version that whats on the MS site

msiexec is not running in task manager. i think this problem is related to
my previous post about unable to install two updates

if its installer problem, can you tell me how i can uninstall current version and install new one?
