866184 2010-03-11 22:58:00 I have just installed vm ware player. I have added new vm and installed Windows7.
Also Full VM Ware tools including devices etc..
I have changed and configured network adapter to use static IP because it works for my another VM (XP Pro, sp 3) So I did same for Windows7

Now when I go to my network, I can see both my laptop and my dad's laptop in the network and all other shared folders.
my problem is I can not go to Internet.
It says 'No Internet Access' in the network icon in the taskbar tray at the right hand side ?
I need help.

FYI !
I am using bridge internet connection in the vmware settings.
I have also another vm for XP Sp3, works like a charm.

Please help.
Cheers.

866185 2010-03-12 00:08:00 if you use static ip address, what are you using for DNS settings? and gateway, thats why you use dhcp, it gets addressing from host whichin turn gives dns\gateway settings SolMiester (139)
866186 2010-03-12 00:13:00 I have assigned same as my laptop.
Gateway = my router (same as my laptop)
DNS = my provider (same as my laptop)

Is this correct or need to change ?

866187 2010-03-12 00:21:00 But the ip you've put in, isnt the same ip as the laptop is it? Otherwise it'll conflict Speedy Gonzales (78)

Do you have static address on all pc's?, why, have you tried dhcp?

Gateway should be the router correct, but dns servers should be the isp provider....can the VM ping the router?, if so try 202.27.158.40 and 202.27.156.72 if you absolutely need static addressing

so might need to check firwall on the host also!

Both laptop and vm ips are different

DNS Server = my ISP
Laptop and VM both using same DNS Seeting
Both using unique IP
I can Ping the router, login to it from VM, but no internet access

Humour me, change to dhcp...as far as I know, bridging uses its own ip range and interact via the host pc, its not like NAT....

It was dhcp configured originaaly, which did not work.
So I changed to static ip and now I can get network access, but no internet. ?

You are set for bridging which has a certain ip range on the virtual nic which the host uses to communicate, it is usually 192.168.1.1...
have you changed the ip address on the host virtual nic or the vm nic?
