776617 2009-05-24 23:04:00 Hi,

I read on Dominion Post a couple months ago that a Vic student created a software/router/company that allows an internet sharer to calculate cost based on the bandwidth they used.

Anybody remember the company/website?

Cheers.

776622 2009-05-25 04:59:00 Thanks for your interest in WebGauge - yes, the website is http://www.webgauge.co.nz as others have already posted. I was alerted to this thread this afternoon by a friend. If you have any questions about the product, I'm happy to answer them here (or send me an email via the website).

@wallaro: I was not aware that DomPost had done an article on me - do you remember when you might have seen it, as I'd quite like to track down a copy? The only press coverage I'm aware of is on Scoop and PC World.

@blam6 & @wratterus: Yes, we use commodity hardware, but run a custom firmware so that it can meter the amount of data used and send it to our servers.

Tomato does bandwidth monitoring. I use it, and it shows me what clients are using how much bandwidth.

Tomato also runs fine on the Wl-520GU...:p
