Neither are particularly better equipped than towns that have grown into cities 'naturally'. The key is to get some sensible people (i.e. NOT politicians or anyone with a politically-motivated agenda) involved with making decisions and raising and spending the money. Therein lies the rub. What is "sensible" to one person is a waste of time, effort and money to another, depending in their own requirements/needs/wants. A benevolent dictatorship is the answer... :) |

A benevolent dictatorship is the answer... :) Shall we get Helen back then? Let us go back to horses and carts and hopefully I can get a contract as a street cleaner for example. A certain amount of money comes in via Taxes and according to some people we need to spend more than we earn. Thus we need a tunnel so therefore we will borrow money to pay for it. I have a plan. I want a computer in every room and at least a choice of what motor vehicle I choose to use on any given day. Going to work and the usual stuff I will use the only car I have. Want to get to Auckland quickly I would like a Ferrari but then I run across these idiots that impose speed limits for some reason. Oh I suppose I could get a helicopter and get someone to fly it for me much like a certain person in Central Government did recently. Now that I am back to earth I realise there is no point in spending money I do not have. |

So how would you propose changing the minds of the intransigent idiots at the top of the tree at NZTA?? |

Along the way it would be nice to see the cycle people get licences - while I'm tolerant and carefull with kids on bikes I'm sick of stupid cyclists passing me on the left in my lane when I'm about to legally turn left, (Oh damn I missed her, not even enough time for road rage!!!). Where do you think the money will come from? Try taking a bus. Have a nice day, woohoo :-) |
