776011 2009-05-23 04:00:00 NO one knows every thing - if they think they do then they better get their hand off it (you know what I Mean) -- I'm sure there are many things that a good tech would know that many others dont.

Personally I dont know of any Techs that would bother making a copy of an error message any way - Every tech I know, they have a Workshop PC OR PC's - and if an error message comes up on the faulty machine they are working on that they dont know, they simply open a browser on the workshop PC type in the error code and go look for an answer.
Why make a copy of the error, save it, transfer it to a USB maybe - muck around printing it out.

OK it may have its place to save a copy of the error - but most customers are not interested in error messages which mean nothing to them - all they want is their PC to work correctly OR posting it back here so someone can help.

I don't find it useful, and I don't think a technician would either, but it would be damn useful for the guy trying to get help, so he/she doesn't have to type the whole error message(eg on a forum)

776012 2009-05-23 04:13:00 What I think what will be more useful, is a new feature in Windows 7.

Often you hear people saying --" every time I try to do <insert task> The PC crashes, or Doesn't do what its meant to" Trying to figure out exactly what they have done can be a damn nightmare ---

The new feature --- click start type in PSR Select it - hit record:thumbs: ----

Do the "task" that causes the problem - send the file to the Tech, or the Tech can read what has happened.

776013 2009-05-23 04:16:00 Yep, the HTML file it generates at the end is quite good too:)

Hopefully there will be a good alternative for XP and Vista

Maybe this could be a good school project for you? I'm sure there will be plenty of people out there who would be grateful for something like that.

Hm....guess it wouldn't be too hard...I'm not good enough with C++ so I might try with Visual Basic, when I have the time:p
