866267 2010-03-12 00:45:00 Easy.

Boot off Windows CD, into Recovery Console.
Type chkdsk /p/r

It just got itself in knots when it exited while running.

866269 2010-03-12 01:24:00 pctek, I can't boot from a cd

CD drive is attached to motherboard through a pci - ide

866270 2010-03-12 01:27:00 Did you try what I edited in Post 9 ??

OR try without a HDD at all, No Hdd attached shouldn't stop the CD from booting.

This is ONLY to test the other Hardware, no point in chasing a faulty system if the hardware has been damaged.

866271 2010-03-12 01:41:00 Correction: SATA DVD drive does boot - does not recognize any hard drive

Pulled the SATA DVD installed another SATA hdd
won't boot

866272 2010-03-12 01:43:00 Is AHCI enabled in the BIOS?? If it is, disable it / change it to IDE mode. Thats if its got SATA ports onboard Speedy Gonzales (78)
866273 2010-03-12 02:07:00 The only adjustment option the bios has is listed under SATA Operation:
Raid Autodetect . ATA or
Raid On

Currectly it is set to Raid On
NZHawk (4093)
866274 2010-03-12 02:19:00 Are you using RAID?? if youre not disable it Speedy Gonzales (78)
866275 2010-03-12 02:26:00 Disabled raid

reboot, error:
"Drive 1 not found: Serial ATA, SATA-1"

note this is with a different SATA drive

866276 2010-03-12 02:28:00 So does this thing have sata ports on it at all? Or are you using PCI SATA cards? And what have you connected these SATA hdds to now? You did connect the power and data cables to these SATA hdd's right?? Since, you need 2 cables Speedy Gonzales (78)
