2010-03-13 03:45:00 | help! I upgraded my dell from Vista to Windows 7. Itunes worked ok, as did my ipod. but now I plug my ipod in and message appears.."installing device driver" then that fails. have tried all the apple fixes, i.e remove usb driver, apple mobile device driver. they reinstall, but the Universal Serial Bus controllers still has a yellow warning triangle next to the ipod listing. If I try to upgrade it, it says it is the most up to date. anyone had this prob and knows a way a round it?? cheers Theo

2010-03-13 03:50:00 | Whats the motherboard? Some later mobos (with P55 chipsets) can have probs with Ipods. Are you using windows 7 RTM / the final version? | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2010-03-13 04:28:00 | hi- considering it did work and now it doesn't (same computer) I am guessing mobo not the problem? windows 7 version just says Windows 7 Home Premium - not very helpful- it was a dell supplied updgrade. | theob (7255) | |
2010-03-13 04:36:00 | Are you using the latest version of Itunes? 9.03? Hmm just tried my ipod here, its fine. Was vista 32 or 64 bit, and is Windows 7 32 or 64 bit? | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2010-03-13 05:09:00 | To get the build version, click start, type in winver select it from the result, a window will open giving the info. Just tried My ipod nano - Itunes 9.03 + Windows 7 32 - works fine / Detects.

2010-03-13 06:48:00 | When you upgraded from vista to windows 7, did you install over vista, or do a clean install of Windows 7? | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2010-03-13 09:29:00 | installed over...which could be a problem then? | theob (7255) | |
2010-03-13 09:40:00 | Right mouse on computer on the desktop / manage . Go to disk management . Does the ipod appear here?? If it does, does it have a letter assigned to it?? If it doesnt, right mouse on it / select change drive letter and paths . Give it a letter (thats not already taken) . Other than that it could be, because you installed over vista

2010-03-13 21:54:00 | thanks for all the help- it seems to be a bit randomly broken. this morning the ipod did appear in itunes. I opened the disk management and saw it was assigned F: - just before it disappeared again! no amount of coaxing can get it to assign appear. so i guess some problem associated with not doing a clean install. cheers Theo
