866504 2010-03-12 20:10:00 apart from having the program installed?
I'm building a new pc and want to get away from using Outlook.
Any suggestions on a good email program for Win 7 64x ?
Thanks.

866505 2010-03-12 20:22:00 If you want to move away from Outlook Express, you could try Thunderbird which is also free, part of the Moliza/Firefox family.

Cannot remember how but you should be able to import your existing mail into Thunderbird and it should open there ok.

866506 2010-03-12 20:39:00 Thunderbird isnt too bad once you get it to work. It thinks it knows what its doing (it tries to configure it) once you install it. But fails lol Speedy Gonzales (78)
866507 2010-03-12 20:58:00 If its Outlook, ( or Outlook Express) This article (support.real-time.com) gives instructions on how to import them - into Thunderbird. wainuitech (129)
866508 2010-03-13 00:03:00 Thanks guys.Looks like the easiest way is to load Thunderbird into my present XP and suck the files across !Then I guess it will be easier to just copy the TB files onto the new pc.
My new Asus P7P55D-E Pro just arrived,so some more reading to do.

Ay? I've never had any issues setting up emails in Thunderbird.

866510 2010-03-13 01:22:00 Setting up emails isnt the prob, its getting the smtp server info to work when you install it. So, you can send something. Its happened here with TB 3.02 and 3.03 Speedy Gonzales (78)
866511 2010-03-13 01:35:00 If I make TB the default for emails, will Mailwasher open it instead of Outlook? Neil McC (178)
866512 2010-03-13 01:36:00 Probably Speedy Gonzales (78)
866513 2010-03-13 01:38:00 OK ,got the addresses transferred to TB.Now have to check with the wife to make sure she's happy about using TB ! Have already changed the classic look on Start menus back to XP default to prepare her for 7 !
Thanks again.
