| 867594 | 2010-03-16 05:10:00 | Hey Guys, I might be buying a new notebook but I need some advice on whether I should buy a Toshiba L300 or a Sony Vaio E Series Notebook. Toshiba Specs: * Intel Pentium Dual Core 2x 2.3GHz * Factory 4GB Duo Channel RAM * 320GB * ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 w/ 512MB Dedicated Video Card * Windows 7 Home Premium Price - $1,199.00 www.justlaptops.net.nz Sony Specs: * Intel Core i3 - 330M @ 2x2.13GHz (Work as 4x 2.13GHz) * Factory 4GB DDR3 RAM Duo Channel Memory * 320GB High Speed Hard Disk * ATI Radeon HD 5470 w/ 2.2G Video RAM, 512MB Full Dedicated * Windows 7 Home Premium Price - $1,489.00 www.justlaptops.net.nz Have you guys tried the new intel processors (Intel i3)? Is there a MASSIVE difference between them and the Intel Pentium Dual Core? I've heard some negative things about the new intel processors on how it lacks performance compared to the previous Intel Core 2 Duo etc. Is it worth paying another $290 for a newer processor and graphics card? I am a gamer but I don't mind playing in low graphics as I don't see a HUGE difference in quality. But I am concerned about framerate. My current laptop, HP DV5-1209ax has problems with frame rates even thought it is regarded as a "Class 2" graphics card on notebookcheck.com. It is a ATI HD 3650. Cheers |

But then my needs may be very different from yours, I chose the Toshiba as almost everything I work with both at home and at work is Toshiba based and I have found them a very good performing laptop. |
