2010-03-16 02:15:00 | Hi guys, I can't get Excel 2007 to show recent documents. Yes, there are recent spreadsheets I would like to access without going the long way around route :) I've tried: Excel > Office Button > Options > Advanced > Display > Show this number of Recent Documents: The number is set to 0, and this text and option is greyed out, so I can't use this facility. Can anyone solve this for me?

2010-03-16 02:56:00 | Thanks zqwerty. I'm using Ccleaner, but it doesn't appear to be the problem as that Applications box is already unticked. | WalOne (4202) | |
2010-03-16 03:21:00 | Are you running as admin ie the user that installed MS Excel, that may be why you cannot alter options, I have MS Office 2003, seems straightforward, Tools/Options/General/recently used files..., mine are not greyed out. | zqwerty (97) | |
2010-03-17 07:58:00 | Thanks zqwerty, I am logged in with admin rights, and the problem is still there. I'm new to 2007, so it's probably something I should be doing but haven't :( | WalOne (4202) | |
2010-03-19 03:13:00 | I subsequently found this was repeated in Word 2007. The answer lies in the registry, if any reader is having the same problem: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\Explorer A DWord Value named NoRecentDocsHistory, with a value of 0 should restore your Recent Documents for MS Office. A value of 1 will disable the Recent Documents "feature." (Thanks to TechArena Community) :D
