867213 2010-03-14 18:30:00 Hi all.

Sometimes on start up, my computer screen will go blank white for around 10 seconds then will go onto a BSOD saying "ATI2DVAG" and "The display driver is stuck in infinite loop"

I tried this fix (www.sightsea.com)but I don't seem to have "CPU to AGP Controller" under my device manager.

I have the AIT 5870.

Thanks.

867214 2010-03-14 19:00:00 Try this -- Download Driver Sweeper (fileforum.betanews.com) Select ATI - completely remove the graphic Drivers - you may have to remove everything containing to ATI depending on whats there (if unsure post back a screen shot) , install the drivers from ATI. From memory this program also runs in safe mode if it wont boot normally

The method in the link you posted doesn't really remove them fully, it only uninstalls and reloads back whats already there.

867215 2010-03-17 06:16:00 Ok ta, reinstalled, will just have to wait awhile to see if it's fixed.

Had a problem after I removed the drivers, my monitor said "Low frequency" or something. I had to boot in VGA mode, Safe mode didn't allow me to view it aswell.

Thanks

867216 2010-03-19 02:50:00 Well, it seems that got rid of the BSOD problem .

But a new one has popped up . After my computer been shutdown for awhile, on start up, the screen will be black, but the lights will be on . And then after awhile the screen will just turn white with random flickers of color around the screen . :xmouth:

867217 2010-03-19 03:00:00 So lights on but no one home :D

See if its still a driver issue, when it does that, reboot into safe mode, since safe mode only loads the default drivers that should tell .

IF it still does it in safe mode, there could be a card problem, or even monitor problem . One other way to tell if its hardware, boot from a linux live CD, something like Ubuntu, or puppy Linux - see what appears (or not) .

I can still acess the computer, I just have to press the restart button then it works . . It's just when it's been off for a few hours and I turn it on . Duno :waughh:

Duno :waughh: Hmmmm So if its cold, Eg turned off say over night, then next time it starts, it comes up with the problem ??

After its started OK, if you turn it off then turn it back on again, right away (or within a few minutes) does it start OK ?

If so , one possible cause could be dry or faulty solder joints someplace .

I have seen before where a PC runs fine once it gets a bit of heat through it, and the parts/ contacts expand ever so slightly (not actually visible expansion) . But when cold it plays up . Could also be dirt/dust in the Graphic Slot ( PCI-E I assume)

Problem is, if this is the case it could be any number of parts causing it .

Try removing the Graphic Card and blowing out the Slot and re-seating it .

Once it starts, if it works correctly, its not likely to be drivers, usually drivers will either be corrupted or Not .

Have you tried another graphic Card ?

Well, I'm quite sure it's not dust, since it's a new case, mobo and video card . But will try blowing the slots .

It may be the soldering you're talking of . In which case I'm sure I'll be able o replace it with Ascent .

867221 2010-03-19 22:06:00 Before doing any sort off RMA - What I would do is try another graphic card (if you have one) doesn't matter what power, brand etc, as long as it works .

If its ok then the original card may have a fault . if not then something else (motherboard or even PSU) may be causing problems .

Pays to eliminate the parts one by one, other wise it will take longer for Ascent to supply replacement parts, as they would have to test them to find the faults .

Just make sure it does only play up when cold ( turned off for a while)

Damn, I just sold my old GTX 260 .

This morning when I turned it on, it went straight away . And I hadn't used it for a good 10 hours or so . . So maybe it is something else
