777443 2009-05-29 04:28:00 What about household dogs that attack (mostly) children?

I never hear "they shouldn't have killed the dog" afterwards with that.

Should it have been locked up? But then you'd have people complaining that it's locked up and it was just its natural instinct.

Can't please everyone.

But a dog is a domesticated animal not a wild animal.

777445 2009-05-29 04:50:00 So now it's okay to kill domesticated animals and not wild animals? Cuz I mean, a household dog is more dangerous than a tiger. --Wolf-- (128)
777446 2009-05-29 05:09:00 I wonder if on tonight's Close-Up, The Walrus will interview the daughter of the neice of the family who witnessed the mauling of the zookeeper?

I mean, surely they will want to keep this story alive for another three weeks while they slowly milk the whole damned thing to death :(

No, I also don't think a dog should be put down if it attacks someone.
The owner of that dog should be though.

Same. Dogs can usually be rehabilitated under the right guidance. It's just this society's conditioning that makes people believe one bite must equal to a death sentence no matter what the circumstances are (eg, kid pulling its tail).

It's the owners that really should be lethally injected if the dog had been neglected or used as a fighting dog. Sometimes inexperienced owners will find their dogs angelic at all times but will be in complete disbelief when their dogs go out to bite a kid.

And a tiger doing what Abu did shouldn't mean a death sentence for him. I suspect the reason why he is is because people who think they know what should be done will try to get smart and call for the cat's death.

Maybe in your household but not on the rest of the planet.

777450 2009-05-29 10:47:00 I think we can learn and apply lessons from a domesticated cat. Mine (cat would beg to differ) gets grumpy sometimes and scratches me. So I guess, and I am not an animal behaviorist but I bet tigers have bad days to. prefect (6291)

With a name like WolfForest, I'm not sure that is as obvious as you think.
