| 778247 | 2009-06-03 21:06:00 | Misty lives in Auckland so 18 would be hot - it's the humidity that makes it feel hotter. My parents nearly bought one on the weekend at Harvey Normans after believing the rubbish about interest free. They haven't now as I pointed them to the EECA website and they have applied for the funding, apparently there is a medical aspect too, and they being elderly with various health issues, qualify. So, much better for them, won't cover the whole cost but at least it pasy for some of it. My mum will like the aircon part too, she hates Napier summer. |

Hi pctek Nice to hear from you (always been a great admirer ! :) ) I presume from what you say about "medical aspect" that there is additional funding if you have a medical problem. I have none ....am fit as a fiddle ... or at least a trombone !! :D What is the problem with the Napier summer. Mrs Misty and I have always been jealous of those who live in Napier or Nelson. Are we misguided ?? :horrified :illogical Misty |

| 778250 | 2009-06-04 08:12:00 | I'm going to get a heat pump. I've been fixating about them all week after reading this thread. I even got myself a digital thermometer to record the interior house temperature to justify why I need a heat pump. :D Just need to do some research on what brands are better than others and get some quotes done. |

| 778251 | 2009-06-04 08:30:00 | My Landlady (wonderful Lady that she is) had a Fujitsu Unit installed in my 2 bedroom Unit a month or so ago. Total cost was $2500 and they put an extra hot point in behind my computer while they were at it :thanks It has made such a difference. The whole place is a lot warmer and dryer which has to be better for my son and I. The Cons: Its not quiet. It does have quiet mode which should be labeled cold mode. I have a feeling that it will cost more to run it on this as it turns the heat right up to maintain temperature It will freeze up in a hard frost. But only for 5 minutes or so then we're cooking with gas... or not so to speak. Its not going to be cheap to run. But then at an esimated extra $80 a month on my power compared to a minimum of $60 + for LPG, its not bad The Pros: The Timer. It turns on 30 mins before I get home. The remote works from my bedroom for the morning dash Did I mention no gas? Consumer found that the price to heat your house often goes up because you tend to heat your house more with them as they are so good. |

You need to determine what size of heat pump you need. Independent advice from "The Right House" certainly suited us. Are you a member of "Consumer Magazine" ? If not then send me a pm and I will send back some info Misty :) |

| 778254 | 2009-06-04 09:04:00 | Mrs Misty and I have always been jealous of those who live in Napier or Nelson. Are we misguided This town (Napier) has one of the highest average sunshine hours in the country. I think Nelson may be highest. But man - it sure gets cold outside of summer! We had 2 degrees C yesterday. brrrrrr |
