| 776959 | 2009-05-27 13:02:00 | Godwin's law (en.wikipedia.org): Godwin's Law (also known as Godwin's Rule of Nazi Analogies)[1] is an informal adage created by Mike Godwin in 1990. The adage states: "As a Usenet discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1." Godwin's Law applies especially to inappropriate, inordinate, or hyperbolic comparisons of other situations (or one's opponent) with Hitler or Nazis or their actions. You can tell when a USENET discussion is getting old when one of the participants drags out Hitler and the Nazis. Simply pointing out the obvious problem with pacifism lest we forget. No comparison to Hitler of anyone was made so mentioning Godwin's law appears inappropriate. "Provocation does not come into it" is not something any Court in New Zealand would uphold, because it is clearly wrong. |

It would appear that you were the only person to mention Herr Hitler in this thread. Provocation is only used for mitigation of a sentence. Take for example a law that says I should not use alcohol then drive. I take you down to the hospital after finding you outside my place leaking copious quantities of the red stuff called blood after I used booze. Now clearly I should not drive if I was over the limit but by the time I go back in my house and phone the emergency services you may actually lose your life. No worries. I will just let you bleed then I will sue your heirs so they can clean my drive without any expense to me. |

Jail them for non-payment of fines and repeat offences. Destroying the cars is just a sad joke. Next time they will steal a damn car, drive it boozed and do everything in their power not to get caught. Oh great, taxpayer paying up again!!! I think the cars should be sold for non-payment of fines sure, but crushing a boy racers car!...he will have NO mana left in front of his peers for the reason of getting caught and losing his car. They should do a reality show with it on TV, so the whole country can have a laugh and let of some stress...hehe |
