778383 2009-07-09 22:06:00 For the last 2 or 3 years I have used cheap DSE cartridges for two different Epson printers with good results, including printing colour photos. Strommer (42)

I didn't know that, I'll check it out. Thanks.

Steve, I'm starting to think that a good brand of cheap cartridges might be the best solution.

Same here. Take your empty cartridge in & you get 10% off a new one. It all helps. PJ

778386 2009-07-10 13:39:00 I bought one of these for a Canon Pixma ip4000 at work that we use to print CDs. The kits are kind of mickey mouse, they use bits of plastic and double-sided tape to hold everything in place.

I wasn't able to close the lid, and it won't work with the lid up. I asked about this and was told that the lid wasn't supposed to close, and that I should jam a bit of screwed up paper into the hole where the microswitch is so the printer would work...

That's the first thing I thought when I saw the ad on TV.

778387 2009-07-10 15:01:00 I have two printers at home and both are ink jets.
For printing the odd photo on A3 both will do the job with good results.

For printing heaps of photos I use snapfish. 19 cents per print.

778388 2009-07-11 09:18:00 I don't often print photos, mostly CDs and stuff like software manuals. The Melco ink quality isn't even good enough for that. ratbert (14955)

Are the quality of the prints from somewhere that cheap actually good? I've heard that sometimes the cheap ones don't last long and easily fade etc.

I haven't really had any printed photos since I got a digital camera, but I've had a couple done at camera house.

My Canon i450 and Pixma iP2000 both do photos well but it's too expensive. I just use them for standard documents

778390 2009-07-11 14:58:00 The quality is fine but I have only had the earliest for about 18 months.
They still look good but they are in Albums that seldom get opened.

Time will tell I guess.
