867335 2010-03-15 02:48:00 Hey Everyone,

Probability a very silly question but i am trying to work out if my Laptop Hard Drive is Sata is IDE, i have checked the manufactures website for specs to no avail so i'm wondering if anybody could help me please. How would i tell the difference?

I have attached a photo, hopefully you can see it properly.

Thanks

867338 2010-03-15 03:03:00 oh thats right forgot about those adapters that some manufacturers use to make it easier to take hard drives out. nedkelly (9059)
867339 2010-03-15 03:12:00 Looks like an IDE, if it were SATA they generally dont come with an adapter like that, the SATA ports simply slip into the laptop, they can also be plunged directly into a desktop PC as long as the Board has SATA connections and run as a normal drive. wainuitech (129)

But it's probably IDE

867342 2010-03-15 04:02:00 Yes after inspecting it closer i noticed there is an adapter attached and when i removed that the drive looked exactly like the IDE in that picture.

Thanks for all the help.
