777754 2009-05-28 21:48:00 I bought a cell phone about a year ago. It was only used while my wife was in hospital and only with Telecom. It hasn't been used since.
In the meantime I have switched from Telecom to Orcon.
My wife is back in hospital. the cell phone will not work.
Battery is fully charged.
It does not even connect when I dial my home number. It lights up and beeps when I dial, Then nothing.

It has been suggested to me that the phone may only work with Telecom numbers Is that possable?
I can't remember the phone number but it starts 027

I no longer have the manual

Any suggestions?

777755 2009-05-28 21:53:00 027 is the Telecom network. Your phone should show its number somewhere. What make model of phone is it. You can most probably download the manual off the net. Being with Orcon won't make any differance.

777756 2009-05-28 22:06:00 It's a Nokia. No serial number on anything else on it.

When I turn it onit says Telecom on the screen and the number 0277561711
I get a beep with each button press , then absolutely nothing. I have tried other numbers but still no connection.

777757 2009-05-28 22:14:00 Yes that is your phones number. The model number is probably in the battery compartment. You well have to take the battery out. I have a Nokia 2280 and got that info from the battery compartment.

777758 2009-05-28 22:17:00 Was it a prepaid plan? If so the number might of been switched off. I know vodafone cancel numbers/sim cards if you don't top up every 6 months. Call telecom and ask them about it joshjnz (7844)
777759 2009-05-28 22:41:00 I'm on Telecom prepaid and only top up about once a year, could even be longer. Phone still works, but yes contact Telecom.

777763 2009-05-29 00:52:00 I took the time to phone the number published by Jack.

Diverted to a mail box and no ringing at my end,
