868932 2010-03-21 02:30:00 Hi Guys
Just installed my new copy of Windows 7 Home Premium OEM.
It works, but says that its not genuine !
I have not activated it yet, as I have not connected it to the web yet.
I wonder if this is because its an OEM version, or did I type in the Product Code incorrectly, Or is it because I have not activated it yet ?

Any thoughts ?

868933 2010-03-21 02:33:00 Where does it say its not genuine ?

Where was it purchased from ?

If the product key was not correct it usually wont install, to retry, right click Computer, properties, down the bottom is "change Product Key", select that and re-enter the key.

868934 2010-03-21 02:37:00 If you typred an incorrect Product Code, it would not let you proceed past that point.

Wait until you activate (you've got 30 Days) and then see if you get the same message.

868935 2010-03-22 06:14:00 I would take the PC along with the disc to the place you bought it from get them to sort it out under the CGA.. just to make sure everything is legit! chiefnz (545)
868936 2010-03-26 06:58:00 This "genuine" verification is a bit hit and miss. I downloaded a pirated version to try before W7 was on the market, and to my surprise Microsoft passed it as genuine! I didn't keep it long as it was full of bugs. mzee (3324)

You totally deserve a pat on the back for admitting to pirating on a forum of "perfect souls who would never and could never pirate anything ever". And a hi5 :clap

868939 2010-03-26 10:15:00 Im actually going to make a poll about pirating right now. Because whether members admit it or not I would think its fair to say majority of tecky pc users have pirated at some point... hueybot3000 (3646)
868940 2010-03-26 10:16:00 I've got a genuine copy of Ultimate and connected an external drive the other day and it threw a wobbly and said I was no longer genuine. Sorted itself out within about five minutes.

I think if you don't activate it, it tells you it is not genuine until you do, but I may be wrong.

This will be "interesting" to who admits to pirating.
