868510 2010-03-19 20:12:00 Can anyone recommend a free PDF to Word, and reverse, converter? Bryan (147)
868511 2010-03-19 20:29:00 this is free/ (http://www.hellopdf.com/) by the looks of it. Dont know if it's the best, I've never used it. If you have office 07, this can also save doc files as PDF Speedy Gonzales (78)
868512 2010-03-19 21:20:00 Thanks for that Speedy, I will test it. I have since discovered that MS have an add-on for Office 2007 so I will test that too.

Thanks again.

868513 2010-03-19 21:49:00 Just tested it myself with mixed results.

Firstly it isn’t exactly free at all surprise surprise. :D If you don’t buy it you have to sit a maths test before you can use it. Obviously the idea is to p..s you off so you’ll pay up.

Anyway, I did the maths test and tried it on a relatively simple PDF file and the result was excellent.

I then tried it on a PDF file with pictures and offset columns and the result was a dogs breakfast of epic proportions.

So I guess one could say it would be fine for basic conversions, but not for pictures or offset columns.

But I’m picking the Maths test may stop some in their tracks at kick-off anyway. ;)

868514 2010-03-19 21:55:00 Thats what you get if its free. There are other programs around to do this, but you'll probably have to pay for it. If you use foxit, and Office 07 is installed, you can install this (timheuer.com). It'll let you preview PDF files in OL 07. Its for Vista and XP ONLY. Dont know if it works in Windows 7. I would have tried it, if I had Win7, but I reinstalled Vista x64 last night. Since, Win7 has still got bugs in it. And some things work better in Vista (ie: when I record with this tuner, (in Vista), the video stays in sync, its out of sync in Win 7). Speedy Gonzales (78)

868517 2010-03-20 10:52:00 I use Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro CS4. :) but to reverse why would you. bluezone (12434)
868518 2010-03-21 00:45:00 I use Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro CS4. :) but to reverse why would you.

We do it all the time at work. Converting Australian and US user guides to local info mainly or removing from some tech bulletins irrelevant Aust info in it like pricing ETC.. We use a program called Solid Documents. It's not free but it was the best that we found when I tried both free and paid versions. Nearly a 100% conversion rate from PDF to Word..

868519 2010-03-21 02:57:00 The one speedy linked to is free and works I use it all the time at home the only downside is it screws the formatting that is in the PDF when it converts it to word. Not a biggie for me but can be time consuming to re format a multi page document gary67 (56)
