2GB DDR2-800 PC6400 240Pin Unbuffered Desktop Memory

779137 2009-06-03 09:11:00 You'd have to be a bit more specific about brands

+1

I could build a PC easily for that price, if I used generic, cheap parts.

Look at the parts PCTek uses. I originally thought the PCs she was sellign on her website were expensive, till I worked it out.

You'll never make any money building PCs. Competition is just too great.

779139 2009-06-03 09:19:00 Yes but all you people with Businesses have to charge more. you need profit and you need to pay for labour etc, if you could build a pc for this much AND make a profit on it i would be suprised.... as it is thats only $40 profit for me. and also as for my parts, I dont get crap parts I expect that when a customer gets a PC from me they should never have to come back unless they themselfs screwup there OS or Hardware. 779140 2009-06-03 09:22:00 You expect wrong though...
Parts fail, you have to be prepared to deal with that when it happens, cos it will

779141 2009-06-03 09:25:00 Yes, and as for those situations my boss has suggested I setup a warranty account for situations that do arise, for the majority of the time the repairs will only cost the freight for there RTB to the wholesaler ZapperBoy10647 (11988)
779142 2009-06-03 09:27:00 So what brands exactly are you using?

I could easily collect all those parts, put them all together AND make a profit. And I don't own a computer business.

Just found this...

www.trademe.co.nz

Minus trademe auction fees + the inclusion of the KB an mouse, thats exactly the same as yours..

If you buy off cheap Auckland stores, which you no doubt are to try and sell cheap systems, don't expect a warranty response of less than 2 weeks at best. Your customers shouldn't have to wait a month for replacement.

Therefore if you operate this way you should expect to often have to buy replacement parts for your customers and RMA them after. Then you can use the replacement for other computers.

The other option is buying from reputable wholesalers, but in small quantities you will not get as good pricing as the cheap stores.

DOESN"T matter what brand of parts you use, cheap and nasty or top of the range $$ EVERY computer part will fail at some point, just a matter of when .
Asus - good brand -- had a couple of boards develop intermittent faults within two weeks and one fail even before I finished installing the OS . Yet I have also built hundreds(and yes I mean hundreds) of PC's that have never had a failure hardware wise .

What PCTek wrote hits the nail on the head -- many people think you can do jobs under the table, then if it works out then start doing things right - Tax department dont quite think that way .

Heres something to think about -- originally its says "sell computers commercially" so legally you have to give a receipt . Now lets say somewhere down the track the person who brought the PC has "problems with IRD" they go back through every purchase, they go contacting the seller - then they start looking into who sold items -- helloooo no records, not paying what they meant to -----whos in trouble ?? (it does happen, I know at least 1 person its happened to, and heard of several more . )

BTW-- the question
Who here can build a complete system with these specs and beat my price?!? my price being $750
Slight problem there -- no Brands given,

WHERES the Motherboard, Wheres the CASE, Wheres the Optical Drive Wheres the keyboard and Mouse, Wheres the speakers, on the Motherboard , onboard or dedicated Graphics card - if Card , What card . ???

Whats listed is NOT a system .

But going by the components that are listed -- piece of cake to beat - labor included .

IDIOT, DID YOU NOT SEE THE 7750? OBVIOUS DIFFERENCE PLUS THE FACT THAT ITS DVD RW NOT RAM + THE MOBO IS LESSER THAN MINE.

Sozz for caps but hopefully it gets the point across

Heres the parts. my margins are about 55$ profit(well i havent factored in warranty returns)

HP DVD1060i 20x DVDRW/RAM Black SATA Drive
BenQ 19" T900HD LCD Wide Glossy Black with speakers
AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750 2.7GHz
Asus M2N68-AM Support AMD mATX Motherboard
EXCEL ATX Midi Tower Case w/ 400W PSU
Seagate 250GB SATA 7200rpm 16MB Hard Drive
Hynix Chip 2GB DDR2-800 PC6400 240Pin Unbuffered Desktop Memory
