YEP!!! Just checked my mail - got the notice from Technet-- part of interest ----
Obviously, Release To Manufacturing (RTM) is an important milestone on the path to GA. We anticipate that we’ll be able to make the RTM code for Windows 7 available to our partners sometime in the 2nd half of July. We also expect to be able to make RTM code for Windows Server 2008 R2 available to our partners in this time frame as well.

Whats with the free upgrade to 7 thing?

1st Q --- Do I need to answer that :p

Last I heard /Read---

2nd Q -- All PCs bought with a Windows Vista license on or after July 1, 2009 to January 1, 2010. Eligible, being Home Premium, Business and Ultimate.

So if someone is to buy a Vista Basic - that person is out of luck.

Edited: one question I have - has anyone tried W7 on touch Screen to try its features ?? -- My normal LCD simply doesn't seem to work ;)

Find an unethical university student who is willing to give you their MSDNAA key.

779464 2009-06-04 08:55:00 It looks like MS were kind the other night, and gave quite a few people (anyone who signed up in time) free technet plus subs :p Dont know if its still going now tho. But, a LOT of people got what they wanted and for free. With keys. Something to do with the soon to be released Windows 7 (from what I read about it) Speedy Gonzales (78)
779465 2009-06-04 22:11:00 Is there a page with the avaialble upgrade paths yet?

I think last time I saw you could do an upgrade from Vista, but not XP.

I always like doing a full reinstall rather than an upgrade, but sometimes that's not an option. :)

I dont think there was ever going to be a direct upgrade path from XP to W7. You can jump from XP to Vista to W7 but that would be horrid.

There is the Windows Easy Transfer (blogs.zdnet.com) wizard to allow migration of settings & some apps.
