| 868764 | 2010-03-20 20:54:00 | Guys, when you bookmark a site with Firefox the URL is more often than not accompanied by a small Icon or logo usually relevant to the site. What I would like to know is how I can preserve that Icon/Logo if I drag that particular bookmark onto the Desktop? :thanks |

| 868765 | 2010-03-21 03:30:00 | I have done it for my own sites/blogs - and can be done on some sites - but it's a bit tedious. - Open up the site's source code to look for a reference to the favicon (often a .ico or gif file), e.g. link href='The site's url rel='shortcut icon' type='image/vnd.micros oft.icon'/> (I use Control - F key to enter/search the source code for the ico file). For this forum page it is: link rel="shortcut icon" href="pcworld.co.nz Then go to that url to download the image, then select from your desktop's bookmark right click menu - properties - change icon - then select the downloaded image. But you may need to edit (reduce) the image beforehand (most favicon's are or should be 16 x 16 but some may be 32 x 32 pixels - a bit too large). Also sometimes can have issues opening up a ico file (from the right click bookmark menu on desktop) - i.e. require a suitable program, depending on what formats were used to create the original icon... |
