868374 2010-03-18 22:14:00 with news of SP1 floating around, would you think it will include that validation update that has caused problems in previous SP's for vista and was released for 7 a little while ago? GameJunkie (72)
868375 2010-03-18 23:36:00 It'll probably inc the update that checks whether its pirated, and if it is, it'll tell you its not genuine after you reboot Speedy Gonzales (78)
868376 2010-03-19 00:17:00 WAT got pulled and also it was causing problems with some HP's,most with non genuine Win 7 were not taking the KB971033 update so no doubt will be intergrated with SP1 to catch these Lawrence (2987)

If your windows 7 copy is not validated, WAT is having a special Kill switch which will get you logged off automatically in every single hour.

As long as your W7 is legit then WAT's ( pun intended :p ) the problem.

868379 2010-03-19 01:08:00 I thought I read somewhere that Microsoft was not forcing WAT on users unlike vista and xp. nedkelly (9059)

868381 2010-03-19 01:16:00 The update, which users will be able to begin downloading on Tuesday, is voluntary

868382 2010-03-19 01:44:00 this update will be categorized as "important" rather than "critical." Meaning that most People have their PC's to update automatically, and a high percentage that do it manually don't actually read whats being installed anyway.

No real big deal if you have genuine a license any way. Bound to be the odd hickup, but thats the nature of computers ;)

868383 2010-03-19 02:35:00 I stopped that update on my system simply because it will keep phoning home. But I suppose if it's in the SP then I won't be able to remove it gary67 (56)
