869730 2010-03-24 19:49:00 Hi Guys/ladies

What's the best machine atm? Has to be ok to setup voip and sturdy. Don't mind paying for quality to a certain extend.
Thanks:)

869731 2010-03-24 20:26:00 I would think that any good brand will be fine - I prefer Netgear or Linksys. Older gear should be fine too but may need a firmware upgrade to work reliably (my 2005 Netgear ADSL modem was flaky with VoIP until I upgraded the firmware). johnd (85)
869732 2010-03-25 04:23:00 Be careful with the Linksys N-Wireless stuff

Either go with the AM300, NetComm NB6Plus4Wn, or the Draytek DV2710 series, depending on your needs and budget. The first two are home routers, whereas the Draytek is a more "business class" router.

869734 2010-03-25 07:55:00 I guess you've gotta ask yourself three questions:
1) What's my budget
2) Do I need wireless
3) Am I interested in an OOTB solution, or do I feel like being geeky and flashing some firmware :D

1) ~ 100-150 $ without looking to exactly
2) I need wireless
3) I am certainly ok with that if there is a predictable outcome

869736 2010-03-25 10:44:00 Safest bet is the NB6Plus4Wn. The AM300 + WRT54GL is slightly out of your price range, though ultimately more effective with QoS. Chilling_Silence (9)

Thank you!
I had a browse around and could see that there were some troubles with the setup with the later of the two mentioned. I'll keep both setups in mind and make the final decision at buying time with the tendency for one machine only.
