869492 2010-03-23 17:42:00 Examples of printers using this technology if they exist would be appreciated. SkyHigh (15678)
869493 2010-03-23 18:11:00 Some newer laser printers use LEDs. en.wikipedia.org nedkelly (9059)
869494 2010-03-23 18:56:00 Pretty sure Oki "laser" printers have been using LEDs for ages - one of the early adopters that used to advertise the fact. I think nowadays you'd never know - I don't think anyone bothers to tell you the difference (you'd have to read the printer specs), but there's quite a few that do use LED.

The laser is normally scans an image onto the photosensitive drum via rasterisation prior to the toner being stuck to it via electrostatic charge. In an LED printer, the laser scanner is replaced by a light bar comprised of LEDs.
