2009-06-12 08:08:00 | yea well was thinking of that. but then all i really want to do after army is go for police and armed defenders squad... just go straight into police. army would be a backwould step for that role. career in police can be short lived, so plan ahead. some other training that you can fall back on is highly recommended.

2009-06-12 08:17:00 | Yea but then i still reakon i am much to young for police... one thing i do not like about the police are the young power tripping police.. really gets to your head at a young age. I thought army and mp would help out. but a few of you guys dont reakon it will. May have to do alot more research | woffalofagus (14998) | |
2009-06-12 09:49:00 | I was considering one day doing the same, army then police. Army next year for me but after that who knows. I think the army would definitively prepare you for the police/AOS, both mentally and physically. The army would make the police seem easy, and you'd be able to put up with the crap you'd get from trouble makers. I know a few ex army guys who went onto the AOS as well. Rifleman is a easy way to get into the army as they are ALWAYS wanting them.

2009-06-12 10:07:00 | I think most people view soldiers as, I dunno, kinda 'not the smartest, drunks, etc'. When really, they probably get training, skills, and discipline so much more/harder than any police force. Military training > Police training (imo) Either way, it's your life and I personally think army then police is a good career option if you like both. One prepares you for the other, and the later is probably more "normal of a job" so to speak.

2009-06-12 10:25:00 | Most infantry go south these days. If you want to travel go for artillery. Those dudes travel heaps! They are a self contained unit so you pretty much learn the ropes of everything. Soldiers do hard yards, alot end up being cops, all service lives have similarities, but its up to an individual to be a part of a team that will go far. Army will pay for studies etc while your in as long as you pass. | rob_on_guitar (4196) | |

2009-06-12 10:38:00 | i think most would be concerned with amry training soldiers to be agressive which is not always a good trait with cops. not every crook is someone trying to kill you ;) police is a lot more than just chasing down bad guys, dealing with the nasties of world. its also helping good people. what makes a good soldier is not neccarly what makes a good policeman. however i do agree the phyically and mental training the army can give will be a bonus. but then again you could get that with police traning, so you may be wasteing a few good years instead of going striaght to your goal.

2009-06-12 10:44:00 | yea well i agree with that seems like it could be a waste of time, but also im sure it would be good experiance also could be alot of fun in the end.. one thing i do know is that police ten 7 and cops is not what all cops are about ;).delt with cops heaps, in good ways lol.. Well i wasnt planning on joining army this year if i was going too so have a little while to think about it. | woffalofagus (14998) | |
