781834 2009-06-13 02:55:00 ... We should be more protectionist, like they are in the US and Europe now.

And, probably will collapse faster.:D

781837 2009-06-13 04:14:00 WIth the old pack, I used 1/2 a scoop per load, as that was enough. However using 1/2 a scoop with the new packs, does not do the same job as 1/2 a scoop of the old bigger packs. Theerfore I have to use more (about 3/5 of a scoop), and get through the small packs faster than the larger packs, so I am paying more. The small packs should be cheaper than the larger packs too, because the frieght is cheaper, and they aren't selling you as much material in the pack. It is all about them makin more money. Totally Agree - thats basically what I was getting at before hand, it doesn't seem to go any further -- What we do is when doing the shopping, the better half always looks for discounted pricing - if the discount is reasonable, she'll buy a extra box or two - same with any other items.

loo paper -- Pak N Save were having just under half price specials - 3 weeks in a row for 12 & 18 packs ---Packets of loo paper to spare at the moment, open the wash house cupboard -- :horrified - open hot water cupboard --

781838 2009-06-13 05:03:00 Whatever amount you used with the old powders (remember water supply quality varies hugely from region to region; soft, hard and in between), theoretically you should be using half that amount with the x2). At least that's the way they tell it.
I don't think I am being a tad sceptical with their claim. Each time the subject comes up they fall back on the wording that the customer needs to be re-educated.
I went to Mitre10 and bought a 5 or 6 kg bag of the 'old' stuff, a different brand to what I had been using. Have since been back and bought 2 more bulk bags.
I did hear a comment from a company spokesperson that they changed the formula, that may make a difference, depending on your water quality.

Not all of them - but take a look at the cheapest . I watch people zoom buy, spot the price and grab it without looking . Its 400g alright .

781840 2009-06-13 06:10:00 And why do we need to ad nappisan or those other things that the ads say we need to get our clothes clean. I always thought that was the washing powders job but apparently not gary67 (56)
781841 2009-06-13 06:10:00 Considering all the above,

Questions I have to ask:

1. Is our National Government doing anything about it? Ans: NO

2. Is our opposition, Labour Party doing anything about it? Ans: NO

3. Is the Consumers' Institute doing anything about it: Ans: NO

4. Is the people of NZ doing anything about it (other than making some very gentle noises)? Ans: NO

Conclusion:

This is New Zealand. This is the way it is, this is our way of life. lol

781842 2009-06-13 06:11:00 The June Consumer mag has an article about this. Go and buy the Consumer from your local book shop for $8-30.
:)
Just buy the May mag or you will be disappointed !

781843 2009-06-13 06:13:00 The real problem is that that little bit extra that you throw in just in case costs you more as there is less cheap filler mixed with it. Just stick to the measured amounts and the number of washes per packet stays the same.
Good advice !
