781133 2009-06-10 20:56:00 I find that the people that "hate pc's" are the ones that have not tried to learn how to use them properly.

I mean a toaster is easy to use, as it only does one thing (basically)

Whereas a computer (by its very nature and purpose) can do many things.

The one thing that really annoys me about new people with PC's is that you have to spend quite a while telling them about spyware, viruses and scams on the web. This is necessary, but it would be nice if they would all go away and get a real job !

Well, husband hates them.
And he was the one that started the whole thing.
Back in 1985 he bought one home cause "everyone had one". We didn't even have a VCR then.
He worked for NZ Post installing Telephone Exchanges and it was a popular thing among the telecom techs then.
He happily used that one, and the next and the next, lost interest a bit on the 4th.
By the time I got to an actual PC as we know them now he pretty much didn't care.
23 or so later he hates them.
So he did use them, he did learn, then he un-learned.

781135 2009-06-10 21:19:00 I know a couple of quite big engineering businesses with owners that wont even touch a computer because they think they are time wasters. They have office staff that use a computer.
Both know how to use the basic computer on cnc and balancing machines but wont touch a computer at work or home.
Another firm that we use for welding and brake drum machining which has got 5 staff have no internet connected computer at all so no email address everything has to be faxed to them.
Also one of the above owners only uses a cell phone if he is off site but it is turned off and he only calls out on it.

Hmmmm. How well does that chart against the rise in market share of Microsoft?

There's a few users got groggy with W95, but ME was the coup that saw a fair few PC's kicked into touch.

Never had great results with toasters, they never take the full slice in and toast it, there is always 1cm that dosent get toasted.

Why is there a setting that will set the toast on fire, I never need to turn the dial over half way.

Over the years I have been through many toasters.

781140 2009-06-11 16:05:00 Our IT crowd are cool, they are the biggest pranksters, funniest drunks ever, find the oddest articles on the net and their version of politically correct is like finding an honest politician: Non existant. rob_on_guitar (4196)
