| 869887 | 2010-03-25 07:29:00 | I got this Thomson TG585 modem free from Telecom so I could get ADSL2+ According to Telecom's website I should be able to get ADSL2+ My street address is OK My Plan is OK The Thomson TG585 is ADSL2+ compatible. When I tried to use it it was slower than Dial up! They sent me a replacement after spending over an hour on the phone one night with support. The replacement is also slower than Dial Up. The Nokia M1122 that I have had for many years works beautifully still, but is not ADSL2+ compatible. It gives me 832 upstream and 7616kbits/s downstream. It has been up for the last 35 days without any problem. But when I switch to the Thomson it is useless. I do not use filters as I had a technician come to the house many years ago and install a separate ADSL line (split the line?) Any suggestions? |

| 869889 | 2010-03-25 07:52:00 | What I would suggest you do is look in to the sync speed of the Thomson TG585 in the router status page, post back with what speeds it's sync'ing at. Then, go to speedtest.net and post the results here Then, go to pingtest.net and post the pingtest results here. Lastly, see here: chillingsilence.wordpress.com Edit: BTW - Yes it's quite possible to diagnose remotely, just gotta ask the right questions and get the right answers ;) |

| 869895 | 2010-03-25 10:14:00 | Unfortunately I don't have any of those handy to check with, I'm not a big fan of them. Do you use the Wireless? I'm presuming not, since the Nokia isn't a wireless modem? With that in mind, I would strongly suggest you try getting something such as the Linksys AM300 or the Draytek DV120, and seeing if either of those have better results? Something else for you to try: See if you can force the TG585 in to ADSL1 mode? That said, the WebGUI on those is *the* worst I've ever seen for a router, so I wouldn't worry if you can't decipher how to. |
