2010-03-29 23:40:00 | Hi Team I've started downloading various utilities etc to the new computer and find that the "Downloads" folder already contains 22 files like this: JUN2007_d3dx10_34_x86, this: OCT2006_XACT_x86 and this: JUN2008_XACT_x64. I don't doubt that they are legit, but what are they? At this stage I am assuming they relate to the installation and set up of XP Pro, and presume I can delete them, but I figured I'd better ask first, just in case! Got caught out by the absence of the "where would you like to save this" question too. I normally save to a "Downloads" folder on my D: drive so I had to go looking, and that's when I found this folder, all 168MB of them and Zipped too! Cheers Billy 8-{)

2010-03-29 23:45:00 | DirectX install files I think | bevy121 (117) | |
2010-03-29 23:49:00 | Yup theyre directx files. There's x86 / 32 and x64 / 64 bit files in the install. You'll see them if you extract the install file with something like winzip. Theyre not XP files | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2010-03-30 01:16:00 | So do I delete them all Speedy, or just the 64 bit ones and put the rest away in a folder in case they are needed sometime? I have no end of free storage space so keeping is no problem. BTW Speedy, the old box is still running, I set it to Checkdisk C at start up each day and it runs through that then starts no problem. I only need it for a few more days! Cheers Billy 8-{)

2010-03-30 01:57:00 | you can delete them all - they are only for the DX install process | bevy121 (117) | |
2010-03-30 02:03:00 | Yup once directx is installed delete them | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2010-03-30 04:12:00 | Thanks, I'll make a goneburger out of them later today. Cheers Billy 8-{) Damn but this new computer is quick, even websites are loading in a flash. I can now create fatal errors and engineer total disasters in a fraction of the time it used to take me! :xmouth:
