870880 2010-03-29 04:09:00 Just wondering if laptops come with Firewire 400/800, I have not seen any but if you have than could you please tell me the Brand/Model.

Thanks

870881 2010-03-29 04:26:00 I currently have a HP Compaq NX6120 that I am fixing, that has a 4-circuit alpha FireWire 400 connector.

Edit: Guessing you do not want to consider apple laptops?

870883 2010-03-29 04:53:00 there are a few out there. My mate had an asus that had firewire as well. Or you could just get a PCMCIA or Express card that has firewire ports. nedkelly (9059)
870884 2010-03-29 05:00:00 Will be copying stuff off P2 cards onto an external drive for backup. The P2 cards will be connected to an Express Card adaptor that goes in the expansion slot. Firewire to an external drive would have made the copy process faster since there is around 50 - 100 gigs of files backed up daily. eSata should be fine for now. thanks for you help. ronyville (10611)
870885 2010-03-29 05:07:00 Ok. Just wondering what are P2 cards? nedkelly (9059)
870886 2010-03-29 05:41:00 I wouldn't have thought laptops with Firewire were uncommon. My ASUS M51VR laptop has Firewire and e-SATA. The Firewire port appears to have 4-pins so that makes it a 400 I'm guessing. Jen (38)

FW comes in 4 and 6pin for the 400, I think the 4 pin is the miniFW jack.

Sony laptops were big on FW for a while. It looks like their F series has it
