784687 2009-06-22 21:52:00 The Mrs wants to get freeview and I haven't a clue which one to get.

Hopefully someone has one and can tell me if it's good or bad.

784688 2009-06-22 22:28:00 Hi just go to the red shed and you can get one there for around $200 or i think it may have come down now to $180 its a hills freeview decoder very easy to set up.

Or go to trade me and you can get one on there for $60 new although they arent freeview approved but they do receive freeview.

784689 2009-06-22 22:47:00 Are you wanting to receive Freeview via satellite (DVB-S) or are you in an area that can receive Freeview|HD via UHF (DVB-T)? CYaBro (73)
784690 2009-06-23 00:18:00 As CyaBro said, how are you planning to get freeview?

If you want to check your options:

784691 2009-06-23 00:52:00 Zinwell or Hills are meant to be the best makes. I have a Zinwell ZMT-620HD freeview HD reciever which I can't complain about. Had it for about 6 weeks. It is one of the dearer models has Teletext and comes with a HDMI cable. Cheaper models don't come with a HDMI cable which you have to buy separately, thats if you are going HD. You can also get Freeview receivers with hard drives in them which allow you to record freeview. I saw a Zinwell one in Harvey Normans over the weekend for about $700.

784692 2009-06-23 02:19:00 Sorry been busy

To be honest I was hoping to receive via UHF but I haven't actually checked if I can get it, I am in pukekohe I will check now

I was looking at this model $300 DVB-TB01 my JC matthews, I am keen to see what the pvr setup is like

I didn't really want to spend more than $300

784693 2009-06-23 03:02:00 Grab the cheap ones off TM. Around 110, and have a USB port for recording stuff. Blam (54)
784694 2009-06-23 03:07:00 Would recommend staying away from Zinwell. Every FV installer I've talked to says they are great when they work, but 40% - 60% failure rate is too high. wratterus (105)
784695 2009-06-23 04:01:00 I wonder if the Hill's is via OZ crowd,they make good stuff! Cicero (40)
784696 2009-06-23 04:14:00 Get one that isn't $2.50 and made in China.

eg: one that will actually work for more than 5 months...
