Most of these have a sharp edge - even if they look 'contoured' - just about at the back of the knees or upper leg. I know of a number of cases (including mine) where the blood vessel constriction caused by these chairs have triggered deep vein thrombosis (blood clots), leading to severe problems including near-death events when a bit of the clot breaks off and makes its way to the heart, lungs or brain. Not nice and to be avoided at all costs!! The best kind of chair can often be bought for around $150 or less in a sale from places like the Stationery Warehouse. They are usually black leather upholstered, have a high back with a slight bulge that sits in the lower back, with armrests and the seat is well padded in that critical under-knee area. They can be raised-lowered to suit, tilt, swivel and have roller castors. This is one of the best investments if you work on computers for long periods. Trust me - I came back after a near-death DVT experience and eventually traced it to a cr*p chair. BTW, these blood clots are often up to 12" long, not like a pea size as commonly imagined. Symptoms are: your calf in the affected leg will swell up like a balloon. If this happens to you, avoid excercise, movement and get help immediately! |

I had to read that twice, first time had me gobsmacked  and personally I recline while spending long times on computer, more comfortable. and when i finally go to bed my back recovers |

| 785130 | 2009-06-25 12:03:00 | as others have said, keep drinking water. You have to get up to pee all the time, but it keeps your brain functioning and gives you a bit of exercise every so often. I know some people that learn to use the mouse with the left hand. I spose if you could use the mouse with both hands it reduces risk of RSI in your right hand |

| 785131 | 2009-06-25 12:45:00 | And embarrasing when someone catches you licking it up off the desk. Drinking spilled beer off the desk is a filthy habit and rightly frowned on by SWMBO. What etiquette requires is to gently mop up the beer with your pizza, then quietly nibble your pizza. Much more refined. |

| 785132 | 2009-06-27 01:32:00 | If you're like most people and like to drink (water, coffee, tea or milo or beer) while you at at your computer get one of those new Adkaf desktop coffee mug holders. You can Google for them. They will save your papers, desk, laptop, keyboard, carpet etc and give you peace of mind. | Digby (677) | ||
