784637 2009-06-22 23:10:00 Speedy for mod! :D

Just because someone can be helpful doesn't mean they have what it takes to be a mod. Quite possibly speedy has the peoples skills of a brick. No offense intended speedy, as that would go for anyone.

784639 2009-06-23 01:40:00 I actually gave this some serious thought and overall I believe our current Mods do a very good job for a largely thankless task.

I'm actually beginning to believe that even though I am collecting Superannuation I am still a child in so far as a number of people will push the boundaries and I happen to be one of them.

I have been banned in the past and mostly rightly so.
There are people who take the letter of the law and twist it to suit their own ends but boundaries must be put in place and discipline must happen if you overstep the mark. But where is the mark? Rules change by the minute and how these rules are interpreted depends on your upbringing and what you personally believe given information you receive from family, school, church, friends, internet and etc.

Most people have views which may be valid or not as the case may be.

I guess it boils down to what you will or not tolerate.

784640 2009-06-23 01:51:00 Here is a bit of "Secret Squirrels" information that will astound many about the mods!!

It is true that they manage to get away from it all and have fun - just like us lesser mortals.

Here is a sneaky candid photo of one of our mods at a party with some PressF1 members...

784641 2009-06-23 02:00:00 Nice one :)

And yes, the Mods do a great job - keeping their cool and keeping the peace. And getting rid of spam promptly. :thanks

Way back when I lived in Wellington I went out to a dance and missed the last bus home from the city.. I walked back home to Strathmore Park alongside the airport and found a penguin walking south.

I picked it up and took it home with me wrapped in the Sports Post.

My Father and I dropped the said bird off at Moa Point and I guess that is why we have Linux today.

784645 2009-06-23 04:05:00 Thanks guys :) Yes its definitely tempting at times just to hit the "ban" button simply because the option is available. We do our best to remain impartial, and the little thanks that we do get is appreciated :) Chilling_Silence (9)

Hi ZapperBoy- this is Hamish Barwick (screen name is now Richard Barwick).

Cheers for your query, you make a good point. I'm an infrequent PressF1 visitor these days as unfortunately with my writing commitments I don't have the time I once did to check the boards. And yes, Jan Birkeland is now PC World NZ's Norwegian correspondent so he should pop up again:-)

Chilling_Silence and Jen do a great job moderating on here :clap
