784475 2009-06-22 06:15:00 You should find someone to buy it. I found a 2007 price of US$20/kg. You must have around 15kg off the top of my head. MushHead (10626)
784476 2009-06-22 07:15:00 I seem to recall a SG of about 13.1?
I believe that Auckland University were perennially looking for it a few (OK, lots of) years ago. They would triple-distill the Hg for people needing that service, but the perk for them was that they took a percentage of the shiny fluid as a fee.
It is still hard to get, and has many more uses than maddening hatters and killing dental nurses.
Maybe a TradeMe ad?

784478 2009-06-22 08:05:00 If we can sell it we probably will. We are just unsure if its legal being a hazardous substance and all. We could go to the council but they would probably charge $$$$ to dispose of it and seems like a bit of a waste. jonboy (11457)
784479 2009-06-22 10:54:00 As mentioned before, contact your local regional council either by phone or there website. Don't make assumptions before you ask. Asking costs nothing. Mercury is a very dangerous chemical.

Yeah, I think that is what we will end up doing. We are well aware how dangerous it is. Thats why we are not just tipping it down the sink.

As a side note, I found this website. It has a great pic of a man sitting on top of a pool of Mercury.
