From WIRED: ( . wired . com/underwire/2009/06/jackson-joins-ledger-as-pop-victim-of-prescription-drugs/" target="_blank">www . wired . com) In another era, stars like Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and Sid Vicious were felled by a combination of hard and soft drugs like heroin and alcohol . But in the new millennium, prescription drugs are looking just as popular, just as addictive and just as lethal . Take the case of Michael Jackson, who died Thursday at age 50 . The entertainer received daily doses of Oxycontin and Demerol, a law enforcement official told ABC News, and had been addicted to the drugs for two decades, according to one of his producers .
