Ecoli double every 20 minutes or so for example.

Does not take long to get to the stage where you get the runs.

There is also cross contamination to worry about.

To be on the safe side I use tupperware like containers for left over food.

786322 2009-06-27 12:21:00 Tin cans can taint the flavour of the food once it's opened and stored in the fridge. It doesn't make the bugs grow any faster. It is also easier to seal plastic contains with leftovers than to seal a tin can. Jen (38)

786326 2009-06-28 07:13:00 What about all the carcinogens transferring from the plastic when you zap it in the microwave then they don't have warnings on plastic gary67 (56)

The issue isn't the microwave, it's the heat. With most types of plastic, if you heat it, you will get some nasties coming out. If you heat it while it's containing food, guess where those nasties end up.

It's the same reason that drinking hot tea or milo from a pump bottle is a bad idea.

Are you out in the Nelson bush
with your laptop?
with a camp fire?
no microwaves at hand there.

786330 2009-06-28 22:18:00 I have warned SWMBO about putting half-full food containers in the fridge. She is well aware that any space in the fridge is to be filled with beer. Pronto. R2x1 (4628)
