873323 2010-04-05 12:22:00 The battery on my 10-year old Thinkpad A21E is just about dead. The machine works OK on the mains, but lasts about 10 mins from full to empty on battery. At that age, I don't want to spend much on a battery. I have been told a possible source is:

RCN & Associates, trading as Laptop Batteries,
4e Piermark Drive
Albany
Auckland.

Anyone know anything about this mob, or know of other possible suppliers?

No idea what any of them are like, though.

You might also get a good deal on eBay\Trademe...

873327 2010-04-05 22:17:00 Thanks for the info everyone. At approx $150 for a new battery (which is more or less what I expected) I think I'll stick with just leaving it plugged in! It is so old and slow (600 mhz Celeron processor, 256mb RAM, 10gb HDD) that I only use it as a play/experiment machine these days anyway. Tony (4941)
873328 2010-04-05 23:15:00 You could try rebuilding the battery yourself or getting someone else to do it.

Usually works out cheaper, though you have to do it properly, if you do it wrong you have a potential explosion\fire hazard....
